These are a few of the known reasons for why Parsec may crash.
Old versions of Duet Display
If you have an old version of Duet Display installed, it will cause Parsec to stop responding or crash when joining a computer on Parsec. To resolve the issue, update or uninstall Duet Display.
Recent AMD drivers causing issues
Some recent AMD drivers from version 23.2.1 to 23.3.1 cause connection issues with Parsec. AMD patched the issue in version 23.3.2.
- Go to AMD's driver site
- Search for the name of your GPU and select it
- In the newly opened page, select your operating system
- Download and install version 23.3.2 or newer
NVIDIA drivers still present without an NVIDIA GPU
If you recently switched your GPU from NVIDIA to AMD for example, follow these instructions to use Display Driver Uninstall (DDU), remove traces of the old NVIDIA drivers.
- Create a restore point in the minor chance that something goes wrong with this tutorial. You'll be able to go back to how your computer was before changes were made
- Download Display Driver Uninstaller
- Boot into safe mode. To do this in Windows 10 or newer:
- Restart your computer from the Windows start menu while holding the shift button. Do not let go of the shift button until a ‘Choose an option’ blue screen shows up
- When a blue screen shows, go into Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings
- In Startup Settings, click Restart
- Once a screen shows up with options, press 4 to boot into safe mode
- While in safe mode, open Display Driver Uninstaller which you downloaded earlier
- Select the location you want it to extract the program to, and click Extract
- Find the folder the program was extracted to, and open Display Driver Uninstaller.exe
- The program will show settings when first opened, you can leave that unmodified and close it
- Select GPU as the device in the right, then select the NVIDIA GPU
- Click Clean and restart
- Test if Parsec is now working correctly
