Lumafly/Scarab Mod Installer issues

“An exception occurred installing or uninstalling HKMP”

• The mod installer may not have enough permissions to install the mod to the game folder. Especially expected with the Microsoft Xbox app if you’re not running the mod installer as administrator. Close the mod installer, right-click it in the file explorer and run as administrator
• Ensure the game is closed before using the mod installer
• If all else fails, try moving the mod installer folder outside your Downloads folder, into the root folder of your main drive (C:/) or your desktop. In some rare cases the mod installer cannot work properly in the Downloads folder
  • If you continue having trouble, use this Mod Installer Reset script (after moving it outside your Downloads folder as well), then try using the mod installer again

“api-ms-win-core-winrt-l1-1-0.dll is missing”

This is common on Windows 7 machines. You need to install the 64-bit Visual C++ Redistributables. If you have a 32-bit machine, you cannot use the mod installer in the first place because it is made for newer versions of the game which are only available in 64-bit.

Gray screen / “Unable to fetch mod links” / “Network Error”

The program can’t connect to the internet to either fetch the list of mods, or to download the specific mod you want. Try turning on a VPN like Cloudflare WARP.

General issues opening the mod installer

• Make sure that the version of your game is the latest 1.5 version, or the mod installer may not like it. Follow this part of the installation guide closely
• You must also extract the zip file before opening the mod installer (google for how to extract zip files if you're not familiar)
• Try right-clicking the the mod installer executable and clicking Run as administrator
• If all else fails, try moving the mod installer folder outside your Downloads folder, into the root folder of your main drive (C:/) or your desktop. In some rare cases the mod installer cannot work properly in the Downloads folder
  • If you continue having trouble, use this Mod Installer Reset script (after moving it outside your Downloads folder as well), then try using the mod installer again
